{"id":1493,"date":"2026-06-26T00:15:50","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T00:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/?p=1493"},"modified":"2026-06-26T18:10:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T18:10:28","slug":"the-ministry-of-motherhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/es\/the-ministry-of-motherhood\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ministry of Motherhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think motherhood has taught me more about grace than anything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because I&#8217;ve mastered it, but because I&#8217;ve needed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are days when I have a plan, a schedule, and a long list of things I&#8217;d like to accomplish. And then life happens. Someone wakes up sick, the laundry stays unfolded, lunch takes longer than expected, and before I know it, the day I carefully planned looks nothing like the day I&#8217;m living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But maybe that&#8217;s okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe motherhood isn&#8217;t about perfect routines or checking every box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it&#8217;s about faithfully loving the little people God has entrusted to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"718\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_7001-1-718x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1496\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7011807931415488;width:257px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>You Are the Mother Your Children Need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a world full of parenting books, advice, and endless comparisons, it&#8217;s easy to wonder if we&#8217;re doing enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Am I teaching enough?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Am I spending enough time with them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Am I making the right decisions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But God, in His wisdom, chose you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not another mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not the mom who seems to have it all together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not the one with the perfect routines and spotless house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because your children don&#8217;t need a perfect mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They need their mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your hugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your laughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God doesn&#8217;t make mistakes, and He didn&#8217;t make one when He entrusted your children to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Give Yourself Grace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Motherhood has a way of revealing our weaknesses. We lose our patience. We forget things. We have hard days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And sometimes we&#8217;re harder on ourselves than anyone else could ever be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the same grace we so freely extend to our children is often the grace we struggle to give ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We aren&#8217;t called to be perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re called to be faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be difficult days. There will be moments we wish we could redo. But God&#8217;s mercies are new every morning, and He is just as present in our imperfect moments as He is in our best ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Give yourself grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow is a new day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Schedules Are Adaptable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love a good schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love a plan and a routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But motherhood has taught me that schedules are wonderful servants and terrible masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children don&#8217;t always fit neatly into our timelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neither does life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of my favorite memories weren&#8217;t planned at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They happened because we slowed down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we stayed outside a little longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we abandoned the to-do list and chose connection instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schedules are helpful, but they should serve our families\u2014not control them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s okay if things don&#8217;t always go according to plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes God does His best work in the interruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Simple Moments Are the Best Moments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t think our children will remember whether the laundry was folded on time or whether dinner was homemade every night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But they&#8217;ll remember baking cookies together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Helping in the garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning to crack eggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watching the rain from the porch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Folding towels side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Riding in the car and talking about nothing important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The simple moments are often where the greatest joy is found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They&#8217;re also where our children learn the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not just skills like cooking, gardening, or caring for a home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They learn who we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They learn how we react.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How we treat others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How we love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How we pray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How we trust God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe that&#8217;s one of the greatest ministries of motherhood\u2014not raising perfect children, but inviting them into everyday life and teaching them, little by little, what faithfulness looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if today doesn&#8217;t go according to plan\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Give yourself grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hold your babies close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put down the to-do list every once in a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are the mother your children need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And some of the holiest work you&#8217;ll ever do will happen in the ordinary moments no one else sees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.&#8221;<\/em><br>\u2014 Proverbs 31:26<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"925\" height=\"492\" src=\"https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/25b046a9-ad1c-4c4d-bcfd-eb982c3874cc-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1497\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.8801356416205603;width:145px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/25b046a9-ad1c-4c4d-bcfd-eb982c3874cc-2.jpg 925w, https:\/\/stillwatersmercantile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/25b046a9-ad1c-4c4d-bcfd-eb982c3874cc-2-480x255.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 925px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Andrea Woods<\/em><br><em>Owner, Still Waters Mercantile<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I think motherhood has taught me more about grace than anything else.
